Hear His Voice Everyday
Luke 9:35 - A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”
GREEK TERMS:
φωνὴ (phōnē) - Voice
The voice of God from heaven. This voice comes rarely but strongly.
υἱός (uios) - My Son
The Father approves that Jesus was His son because the disciples did not believe earlier when Jesus said God was His Father.
ἐκλελεγμένος (eklelegmenos) - Chosen
The Chosen One Who was prophesied in the OT and the Jews were waiting for The Messiah to come and redeem them.
ἀκούετε (akouete) - Listen to Him
God The Father defends Jesus His Son because He saw the Jews were not believing in Him.
WORD OF THOUGHT:
This verse surprises me, because I can see a lot of family drama happening between the Father and the Son. First of all, it's the 2nd time the Voice of God coming in hearing to the people about Jesus. The 1st time it happened during the baptism of Jesus. It's not normal for a common Man to hear the voice of God. And both the times the voice says, "This Is My Son." Other versions says, "This is My Beloved Son."
Why is the Voice of God audible to the disciples? Because these disciples will make more disciples and it continues. The Pharisees and the Sadducees and the Scribes gave their level best to deny Jesus as The Son of God, The Messiah. They also spread negativity amongst the common people, dragging the people to deny Jesus as the Messiah, even though they have witnessed Jesus doing miracles, healings and also raising the dead.
When people began to trust on Jesus, on the next moment the Pharisees or the opponents of Jesus manipulated the mind of the people. There was the up and down situation going there. That is why in the beginning of Jesus's ministry during baptism, the Voice of God gives the proof that Jesus was His Son and also before the crucifixion of Jesus during the transfiguration, again the voice of God comes that Jesus was indeed His Son. That atleast now please believe my Son.
INTROSPECTING TIME:
Are we attentive to closely hear the voice of the Lord? How is our personal relationship with the Saviour? Are we struggling to get things right with the Lord? Or are we still trying to clean the same mess again and again?
As a believer of Christ Jesus, we may pray, read the word, and follow the commandments of God. But somewhere in our hearts, we do not listen to Him. And at the end of the day we mess everything. May the Lord Jesus Christ dwell in your hearts. Allow Him to carry on His work in you. Make yourselves available for Him. Keep your ears attentive to what God wants to say today. Everyday in the morning, spare time to hear the voice of God. Instead of blabbering, quiet yourselves and hear what He wants to say. May be Jesus wants to give you His Joy for the Day, may be He wants to warn you with the things coming ahead and to be careful, may be He wants to encourage you because your boss might trouble you. It could be anything. Just sit alone and try to hear. This is what the Lord is excepting from us.
WORD OF PRAYER
Dear Lord, come to us, may your Holy Spirit take hold of us. We have decided to spend time in your presence and hear your voice. Forgive us for the days that we have ignored you. Please forgive us. In everything we do, may your voice lead us. In Jesus's name we ask in Faith.
Amen
