Serving God with Holiness and Righteousness

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Luke 1:74-75 "to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear in holiness and righteousness before him all our days."

GREEK TERMS:

 ῥυσθέντας (rhysthentas) - Rescue
Rescuing us from the hands of the enemies who attack us.

 λατρεύειν (latreuein) - To Serve
The courage to strengthen our hearts and minds to serve the Lord with all our hearts and mind and body.

 ἀφόβως (aphobōs) - Without Fear
The emotion called Fear is from the Devil but the Lord gives us courage. The devil won't allow us to serve God, he will hinder us from building the Kingdom of God.

 ὁσιότητι (hosiotēti) - Holiness
The character of Holiness is a Gift from God... Where we have to train our mind and body towards Holiness. Temptations surround us everyday but only the Holy Spirit helps us to overcome it.

 δικαιοσύνῃ (dikaiosynē) - Righteousness
The life we live must be Righteous. It's our everyday effort to perfection. This is what God is pleased with.

πάσαις ταῖς ἡμέραις (pasais tais hēmerais) - All the days
Serving God must be an everyday Business. Especially holding onto Holiness and Righteousness, each and every day, step by step.

 THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Zachariah prophesies immediately after he writes down the name of John. He doesn't speak anything from his own mind but it was the Holy Spirit that spoke through him. God filled the mouth of Zachariah with the prophesy about the coming of the Messiah. The people were amazed with the words spoken by Zachariah. The words were about the people who were in fear, who were scared to go out and speak about the Good News about the coming of the Messiah. But the Holy Spirit emboldens the people to be Holy, to be Fearless, to be Righteous not only for one day but everyday of our lives.

WORD OF THE DAY:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Holy Spirit enforces us to serve God by Building His Kingdom, along with the people of God. Serving God is easy but Serving Him with Holiness and Righteousness especially without the fleshy fears and temptations is very difficult. Serving God is not only going to field missions but also it's our Life.. it's an everyday life we live in God's presence. Our life: specifically the way we talk, the way we think, the way we behave, the way we respond.. everything is a Service to God.

INTROSPECTING TIME:

1. Am I allowing myself to give complete control of myself to the Holy Spirit?
2. Why is living a Holy and Righteous Life difficult?
3. Will serving God create issues for me when I am in the mission field?
4. Is it okay if I don't commit for God's work through my life and action everyday?
5. Will my Life please God?

WORD OF PRAYER:

Dear Lord, your Holiness and Righteousness is all we beg for. Help us and Teach us to serve you with all our hearts and minds and body. May each and everyday of our life and mission bring glory to you. Bring the committed people together so that we may build your Kingdom in Trust and Godliness. In Jesus's name we ask in Faith.

Amen
