Where There is Holiness; There is Favour of God

TODAY'S DEVOTION

Luke 1:28 - The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

GREEK TERMS:

εἰσελθὼν πρὸς αὐτὴν (eiselthōn pros autēn) - went to her

Mary finds Grace in the Sight of God, an Angel of the Lord is meeting her. When the Angel itself comes down, that means God has been watching over Mary to fulfill His Mission, The Promise given to the Forefathers. And Mary succeeds.

 κεχαριτωμένη (kecharitōmenē) - Highly Favored! 

The Word Highly is used only for those who are Royal. Eg: Your Highness. A Hebrew Jewish woman who is a Virgin. Mary finds Favour that too Highly Favored. It's an honourable term or we can say a Royal testimony by God to a timid woman. 

 ὁ Κύριος μετὰ σοῦ (ho Kürios meta sou) - The Lord is with you

Wow! I often get goosebumps when I read this sentence, The Lord is with you. Mary is scared and has a lots of questions but when the Angel of the Lord says "The Lord is with you" then and there itself Mary's doubts and question calms down. 

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Mary's Life has always been a closed circle with family, children and a small group of friends. The day when the Angel of the Lord had spoken about her giving birth to Jesus till the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, Mary has been quietly observing and learning her life and her son Jesus Christ. Why Mary? Why Virgin? Why a Hebrew Jew? Why a woman? The only answer is Holiness. Mary became a medium through which Jesus Christ came to this World because The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord was upon Him…” “…to proclaim good news to the poor…” “…to bind up the brokenhearted…” “…to proclaim freedom for the captives… release from darkness…” “…to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor… the day of vengeance…” “…to comfort all who mourn…”

INTROSPECTING TIME:

1. What does God expect of me?
2. How can I gain the Favour of God?
3. Will God be with me?
4. How can I live a Holy Life?
5. How can I get into the relationship with Jesus Christ?

WORD OF PRAYER:

Dear God, teach us to be Holy, teach us to walk with you, teach us to obey you, teach us to mediate on your Word. Help us to seek you. May your promises fulfill in our lives. May we find favour in your eyes. In Jesus name we ask in Faith.

Flourish Like A Palm Tree

TODAY'S DEVOTION: "Psalms 92:12 - The righteous will flourish like a palm tree ..." It was a simple moment yet a deep meaning... My husband and I were traveling in train, quietly watching the world pass by through the window.
