Who is Christ for you?

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Luke 9:20 - “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.”

GREEK TERMS:

ἐγώ εἰμι (egō eimi) - I Am
The sacred name of God

ὁ Χριστὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ (ho Christos tou Theou) - God's Messiah
The Father and The Son seen in one, The Anointed One

POINT TO BE NOTED:

- Jesus is asking a question to the disciples.
- The question is about the Identity of Jesus in their hearts.
- The question is a direct one.
- The question starts with WHO.
- And Jesus directly points towards the thoughts of the disciples.
- Jesus is prompting the disciples to answer.
- Jesus is expecting an answer from them.
- The word 'I Am' is really something to ponder about as it was used in OT 1066 times in KJV and 600-900 times in NIV.
- Simon the Peter answers Jesus is the Messiah; The Messiah of God.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

If Christ asks you, Who do you say I am? What will be your answer? From the very beginning of your life in womb, till now... When you think about the goodness of God, what will you name the relationship between you and Jesus? Is it Father and Child? Best Friends? Elder Brother? Or as David said, My Refuge? My Fortress? My Strength? And My Stronghold? Dear friends, the relationship between you and God is very important and it works only when you spend enough time with God in prayers and devotion. The day when Peter realised that Jesus is God's Messiah, His perception, His Mission, His Aim and everything he did was entirely changed, because he did not see Jesus as an ordinary Rabbi but he saw the real God, the Messiah who was prophesied by the prophets. The Peter who used to think in a carnal way, he became the total opposite, his spiritual eyes were opened.

WORD OF THE DAY:

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, more than focusing on our materialistic needs, if we put our eyes on the Lord, if we mend our relationship with Him, if we build our relationship with God in prayers and word, we will see things changing, our prayer style changing, our character transforming, our way of approaching and thought patterns will be completely get in track with the Lord. The only thing is if Jesus asks us the question, what will we answer Him? Will we have something to say? Or will we remain quiet? The way we deal in God, determines our true nature. After all, we need to answer God at the end, so better we tune ourselves in better chords with God. Don't keep Him waiting.

INTROSPECTING TIME:

1. How can I mend my relationship with God?
2. How can I grow in prayers and devotion?
3. Will I be able to stand firm in the Lord?
4. Is my life a hindrance to come in the presence of God?
5. What precautions shall I take when I face the world?

WORD OF PRAYER:

Dear Lord, thank you for your kindness towards us. Thank you for choosing us over and over again. Many a times we have denied you. We ask for your forgiveness Lord, teach us to be good terms with you. Help us Lord so that we may have a name to our relationship. Thank you Lord. In Jesus's name we ask in Faith.

Amen
