The Lord Needs It ...

TODAY'S DEVOTION:

Luke 19:34 - They replied, “The Lord needs it.”

GREEK TERMS:

χρεία (chreia) – a necessity, a divine requirement
This means when God says, “I need you,”
it is not out of lack, It is an invitation into His purpose.

WORD OF THE DAY:

During the time of the Roman Empire, people were expecting a powerful king. But Jesus Christ chose a different way: Humility Over Display. Before His entry into Jerusalem, Jesus gave very clear instructions to His disciples:
1. Go to the nearby village.
2. You will find a colt tied there.
3. Untie it and bring it to Me.
4. If anyone asks, say: “The Lord needs it.”

This shows something powerful, when God speaks, He is precise. His plans are intentional, and His instructions carry purpose. When He needs something, He doesn’t ask randomly, He calls with purpose.

MY TESTIMONY:

When I reflect on this passage, I see my own life in that donkey.

There was a time I never wanted ministry. I had my own dreams, I wanted to go into defense, I was preparing for exams, and I had my own plans for life. Even when God spoke through my father, through pastors, and even through a prophetic word, I resisted.

But one night changed everything. I couldn't sleep that night and I was crying. At 3:15 a.m., I heard a voice clearly say: “Sharon, I need you.”

In that moment, I broke down. I fell before the Lord and surrendered. The next morning, I made the decision to obey His calling. From that day till now, it has only been His grace. He prepared me, led me through Bible college, and continues to guide me in ministry.

And today, I say this with all humility: I saw myself like that donkey, tied to my own desires, my own plans, my own direction… But the Lord called me, and when I surrendered, my life found its true purpose.

TODAY’S AFFIRMATION:

1. I will not stay tied to my own understanding.
2. I will not resist the voice of God.
3. When the Lord calls me, I will respond immediately.
4. My life belongs to Him, and I choose His purpose over my plans.

INTROSPECTION TIME:

1. What am I tied to right now?
2. Am I holding on to my own plans instead of God’s calling?
3. Have I been delaying the obedience?
4. If the Lord says, “I need you,” will I respond without hesitation?

The Word reminds us in Epistle to the Hebrews 3:15:
“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”

WORD OF PRAYER:

Dear Lord, We come before You with surrendered hearts. If we are tied to anything that is not from You, untie us. Remove every fear, every delay, every resistance within us. When You call our names, let our response be immediate. Use our lives for Your glory. Even if we feel small or unworthy, we say yes to You. Because if You need us, that is enough for us.
In Jesus’ name, we ask in Faith.

Amen.
