The Tastemaker
Luke 14:34 - “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?
GREEK TERMS:
ἅλας (alas) - Salt
The tastemaker.
Καλὸν (kalon) - Good
The tastemaker must be good and preserving.
μωρανθῇ (mōranthē) - loses it's saltiness
Losing the essence in life.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY:
Imagine this… You’re cooking your favorite dish. You add all the ingredients, spices, vegetables, everything looks perfect. But when it is tasted … something is missing. That is Salt. Without salt, even the best food feels empty. That’s exactly what Jesus is saying about our lives.
Think of a glowing bulb, When it’s connected to power, it shines brightly. But when it’s disconnected… it still looks like a bulb, but gives no light. In the same way, we may still look like believers on the outside, but without connection to God, we lose our influence.
We are like salt in this world. We are meant to bring:-
- Flavor: Joy, Kindness, Love
- Preservation: Truth, Righteousness
- Difference: A life that stands out
But when salt loses its taste… it becomes useless.
WHAT DOES “LOSING SALTINESS” MEAN?
Losing saltiness is about losing impact. When we stop praying, When we compromise our values, When we blend in with the world instead of shining for Christ. Slowly … our “flavor” fades.
Therefore, stay “SALTY” by:
- Spending time with God daily.
- Living differently with purpose.
- Showing love to the unloved.
WORD OF PRAYER:
Dear Lord, keep our lives full of Your presence. Help us not to lose the purpose You gave us. Make us a light and a salt wherever we go. In Jesus name we ask in Faith.
Amen.
